Voice actor Justin Rupple, 38, marketing executive Claire Thornhill, 36, and real estate agent Katy Rupple, 39, live together in a polyamorous relationship as a throuple — all thanks to Katy’s fantasy.
Justin — who’s worked as a voice double for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, among other projects — met Katy at his comedy show in 2006. They soon became the Rupple couple. After getting married, Katy expressed wanting to explore her bisexuality — and what was Justin going to do, say no?
After seven years of apprehension, they invited Thornhill, Justin’s college pal, into their marriage. Hence, the Rupple throuple was born.
While some people dream of being with two women for just a night, Justin is now in a committed relationship with both.
“As humans, we’re capable of loving multiple people completely without diminishing the love we have for any one individual,” Thornhill told the Mirror. “We’re extremely lucky to have found each other.”
The throuple even has their own Instagram account, @thrupples. (Astonishingly, combining the names Thornhill and Rupple creates a homonym of what their romantic partnership is called.) They share intimate snaps of their lives together, letting their followers in on their unique relationship.
While three’s certainly not a crowd for this lovestruck trio, it has people wondering if their love comes with a side of jealousy.
“Jealousy is a human emotion, and we’d be lying if we said that doesn’t come up,” Thornhill told the Mirror. “When it does, we share it immediately and talk about it as a group, where we never deny any emotion.”
The ThRupple throuple is not the first of its kind, though. They are part of a trend toward committed partners embracing a “the more, the merrier” attitude.
