Anthony Mackie absolutely roasts Sixers star Ben Simmons at ESPYS

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons just recently wrapped up a tough postseason in which he shot just 34.2% from the free-throw line and it affected his overall offensive game. His aggression went down as he did not want to get fouled and go to the line.

Since then, Simmons has been the punchline of jokes and the subject of trade rumors and suggestions as it appears that maybe the Sixers could look for an upgrade at his position. However, despite the serious playoff struggles, Simmons is still one of the talented players in the league and it might be worth trying to work with him through these tough times.

The jokes continued at the 2021 ESPYS on Saturday as host Anthony Mackie took the stage and made a joke that Simmons earned the “humanitarian award” for building homes for orphans with his bricks from the playoffs. He also had two little girls up on stage who said “thank you” to Simmons.

It was all in good fun, but this should be one of those moments for Simmons where he uses it as motivation to continue to grow as a player on the offensive end of the floor. Even if he does not come back with a jumper, if he can improve from the foul line, that is a big game-changer for the Sixers.
