Victoria Cartagena has boarded the the third season of Batwoman as Renee Montoya.

Renee Montoya is joining the Arrowverse as the iconic DC Comics character is set to appear in the third season of Batwoman. Deadline reports that Victoria Cartagena has been cast as Renee Montoya after previously portraying the character on the Batman prequel series Gotham. However, Batwoman and Gotham are not connected.

Here is the official character description of Victoria Cartagena’s Renee Montoya for Batwoman season three:

“Cartagena’s Montoya is a former GCPD officer who left the force when she could no longer stomach the corruption inside the GCPD. She now runs the “freaks division,” which hasn’t seen a lot of action… until now. Righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+, she’s a woman with a very personal (and mysterious) mission to help clean the streets of Gotham in the right way, by whatever means necessary.”

The season two finale of Batwoman ended with Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder rebuilding the Batcave and the Batsuit to fully assume the role of Gotham’s prtector. It also teased the debut of several iconic DC Comics villains such as Poison Ivy and The Penguin.

Here is the official synopsis for Javicia Leslie’s Batwoman season two:

Season two kicks off with a major game-changer that will alter Gotham and The Bat Team forever. As the dust settles, Batwoman has everything working against her – including the recently escaped rogues’ gallery of villains – and everyone will come to see her in a whole new light. Alice meets her match when she becomes entangled with a dangerous foe from her past who knows exactly how to prey on her vulnerabilities. As Luke (Camrus Johnson) and Mary (Nicole Kang) find their footing as sidekicks, a romance will shake up their dynamic. Meanwhile, Sophie (Megan Tandy) and Julia’s (guest star Christina Wolfe) budding relationship will face its first real test and make Sophie question everything she thought she knew to be true.
