Things are not looking up for Da Baby as he continues to receive heavy backlash for his recent comments at Rolling Loud about the LGBTQ community and HIV/AIDS survivors. Celebrities, such as TS Madison, Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato and even Elton John, have taken a clear stance against the rapper in the last days. Now, fast fashion retailer boohooMAN has announced they will no longer be working with the award-winning artist.
“boohooMan condemn the use of homophobic language and confirm we will no longer be working with DaBaby,” the retail company said in a statement posted to their official Instagram.
In their announcement about parting ways, boohooMan reiterated their support for the LGBTQ+ community and said they “do not tolerate hate speech or discrimination in any form.” No additional details were provided on the future sale of products from the collection.
Shortly after the boohooMan news broke, DaBaby posted a snippet of his performance footage, in which he ducks a sneaker thrown at him. He captioned the post “no weapon formed” followed by “This how I dodge anything sent to bring me down. Check my resume and sit back. #MySoulAintForSale”
As previously reported, during his set at Rolling Loud DaBaby made controversial statements involving the LGBTQ community and people living with HIV/AIDS.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” DaBaby said during his performance. “Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
“Anybody who done ever been effected by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intentions on offending anybody. So my apologies. But the LGBT community…I ain’t trippin on y’all, do you. y’all business is y’all business.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, no results populate when searching “DaBaby” or “boohooMAN X DaBaby” on the retailer’s official website.
