Deion Sanders Shares A Message About Respect On Instagram

Don’t play with Coach Prime, he isn’t one of them! NFL football legend, Hall Of Famer, and current Jackson State University football head coach Deion Sanders is trending online after he walked out of a virtual interview yesterday while at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) media day press conference for HBCUs. SWAC is a collegiate athletic conference, which is located in headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The conference is made up of HBCUs in the Southern region of the United States. There are over 5 HBCUs that make up the SWAC including, Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, to name a few.

In the clip, he corrected the unidentified reporter of the Clarion-Ledger for calling him by his first name. Deion said, “You don’t call Nick Saban (University of Alabama football coach), ‘Nick.’ Don’t call me Deion.” The reporter disregarded Deion’s request and called him Deion once more while asking the coach a question, but Deion said ‘Aht Aht’ & walked out.

In a recent Instagram post, Deion addressed the disrespect in a series of posts. Coach Prime shared a montage of the interview with him walking about with DJ Unk’s song “Walk It Out” playing in the background. He wrote, “This is how all of this started. I really Pray for all of us because this was something so minimal that was hilarious to me. That you allowed a FOOLISH media outlet and person to play on your Preconceived notions.” As he continued, he said that he walked away from the mess.  “I left the foolishness because I’ve learned the gift of walking away from the mess,” Coach Prime wrote.

He ended the note by telling men & women to stop letting people disrespect them. Tokyo Vanity stepped into Stock Market Pioneer and commended Deion for walking out. She commented, “Just like they called Obama, Obama instead of President Obama! Some of the white folk refuse to respect us for what we’ve worked for.”
