Neal Brennan is a man of many talents. He is a comedian, podcaster, writer, producer, and director.
He is most renowned for his stint as a co-creator and co-writer for Comedy Central’s popular show Chappelle’s Show, starring Dave Chappelle.
Contrary to his professional life, little is known on his personal front.
That being said, Brennan has shared his thoughts on marriage and his girlfriend on occasions.
His Thoughts on Marriages
On October 16, 2020, in an episode of the How Neal Feal podcast on YouTube, the comedian took questions from fans and shared his assessment of marriage
In the podcast, he also confirmed that was not married.
“I just think it’s a bad institution [marriages] and it should be, uh, put in the dustbin of history with totalitarianism and fascism and Mormonism,” he said.
The 47-year-old comedian then laughed at a fan who sent him a question, asking, “How are you not married?” Brennan didn’t even bother answering it.
In another instance, Brennan took to Twitter on May 20, 2018, to put out his views on marriage. In the tweet, he wrote, “Marriage seems relentless.”
His Dating History
Although the podcast host does not believe in marriages and having a wife, he has had girlfriends.
He has not particularly revealed details of his past girlfriends. But he has mentioned them in passing – either during his standup routines or interviews.
Speaking with Parade in March 2016, Brennan shared,
My girlfriend pointed out that when I move from room to room in my house, I sing or hum. In my head I’m in a sitcom. And I’m doing a transition.
In his standup video on YouTube, which was uploaded on January 27, 2020, he also mentioned that his girl was Asian.
But it is unclear if he actually had an Asian girlfriend or just said it for the content.
Brennan Is the Youngest of His 9 Siblings
Born on October 19, 1973, Brennan grew up in Villanova, Pennsylvania, a college town near Philadelphia. He lived there until the age of six.
He belongs to an Irish Catholic family and is the youngest of 10 children of his parents.
After realizing he was funny at about 8 or 9 years of age, he started writing comedy routines and performing them with his friends.
Brennan’s first stint as a writer came in 1995 when he wrote for the dating show Singled Out, hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Chris Hardwick.
He then collaborated with Chappelle in 1997 for Half Baked, which was a commercial failure. But they continued their collaboration and worked on the Chappelle’s Show.
The show premiered in January 2003 and the rest, as they say, is history.
Today Brennan is one of the most popular writers and comedians in the industry.
