Former President Donald Trump Is Suing Facebook, Twitter, And Google

If at first, you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again! No one tries harder than Former President Donald Trump when things don’t go his way. He isn’t the one to walk away without a fight, where it’s a political campaign or social media. He is always trying to push the envelope to get his way. Donnie appears to be still upset after being banned from Twitter & Facebook and is fighting back in a big way. Donald is taking legal action and is leading a class-action lawsuit against social media platforms Facebook and Twitter. In addition, Google is also one of the parties being sued. Not only are the companies targeted, but their CEOs as well.

According to The Hill, Donald alleges that the companies censored him by banning and suspending his accounts following posts he made in response to the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol. The lawsuit was recently filed in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida. Donald has some strong backing in the suit. He has support from the America First Policy Institute, a nonprofit focused on promoting Donald’s policies. In Donald’s legal complaint, he argues the social media platforms have “increasingly engaged in impermissible censorship resulting from threatened legislative action, a misguided reliance upon Section 230.”

To add more context, Section 230 derives from the Communications Decency Act, which is a controversial provision that gives platforms a legal liability shield over content posted on their platform by third parties. Donald fought to repeal Section 230 while he was in office but was unsuccessful. Today during a press conference, Donald spoke out about the lawsuit and called out the companies. “There is no better evidence that big tech is out of control than the fact that they banned the sitting President of the United States earlier this year,” Donald said. He continued to say that this isn’t a fair situation and it’s very bad for the country, world and that if the companies can do it to him, they can do it to anyone else.

Roommates, what are yall thoughts on this?
