Giants’ Blake Martinez returns from COVID-19 to make camp debut

Observations from Giants’ training camp on Tuesday.

He’s Sills got it

WR David Sills made four catches, including a sliding grab over the middle and a jump-ball touchdown, in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills. Sills was in position to make the 53-man roster out of camp last season before a late season-ending injury.

Booker bumbles

RB Devontae Booker fumbled on the first carry of an 11-on-11 period and was immediately subbed out for Corey Clement, who had a strong day.

Caught my eye

LB Blake Martinez came off the COVID-19/reserve list and made his limited training camp debut after he was reduced to virtual participation in meetings. “I would hear myself sometimes talk, but half the time it wasn’t working, so I was like talking to myself, about to go insane,” Martinez, who is vaccinated, said. “I was just yelling into the iPad and nobody was responding back to me. I was like, ‘I hate this!!’ ”

Injury report

WR Kenny Golladay left practice after grabbing his hamstring. RB Saquon Barkley remains sidelined after ACL surgery but joined in for the end-of-practice conditioning sprints — and was leading the pack — instituted as punishment for a team-wide fight.
