You don’t need to break par for golf change to your life.
Bri Teresi embraced an unexpected love for golf last October — when she agreed to do a golf photoshoot for fun — and it’s changed her life.
Things really took a fame-worthy turn in June, when the Guess jeans model went viral for a killer drive while dressed in a pair of black, thigh-high boots, tiny shorts and a crop top. It was an outfit chosen by her friend, Taylor Funk, the son of PGA Tour veteran Fred Funk.
“[Taylor] was at my apartment doing laundry because he had a tournament in the area. Then, he was like, ‘You need to wear these boots, trust me,’” she recalled to The Post about how her outfit came about to hit balls at Drive Shack in Palm Springs.
“His mom golfs in heels all the time,” the “Tag Team” podcast host said. “[Taylor] picked out my entire outfit, so I wore it.”
Teresi met Taylor at the Big Money Golf Classic tournament and, not long after, contacted him through social media.
“I thought he was cute so I followed him on Instagram [laughs] and then we became friends,” she told The Post.
“He is always super helpful when it comes to golf and he really is an incredible golfer. My sister and I try to support him at tournaments when he’s playing in south Florida.”
And Teresi confirmed how hard it is hard to golf in heels.
The California native, who’s garnered golf attention from the likes of actor Bill Murray and championship boxer Canelo Alvarez, saw a major shift in her social media stats after she picked up golf as a hobby last fall.
“I definitely noticed a big increase in engagement after I started posting golf content. When I started posting golf videos people were much more inclined to watch and comment as opposed to the typical bikini post,” Teresi explained.
“I have probably gained 200k-300k followers since and millions of views.”
Teresi added that she’s been able to book more diverse modeling jobs in sports and other areas since taking up golf.
“It gives me an edge,” she said. “I’ve booked hosting jobs in the Dominican Republic and met so many different people because of golf.”
The model noted, though, that the attention she receives isn’t always positive.
In response to critics who claim she’s “over sexualizing” women in sports by dressing in revealing attire on the golf course and beyond, Teresi says she could not care less.
“Women don’t have to fit in one box. Me as a woman, I model, play sports, I’m highly educated, and I don’t have to be one thing,” she said. “That’s what I’m trying to show on social media, that you can be whatever you want to be.
“I think as women, we face being sexualized when we don’t want to be, but the way you carry yourself is important too. For example, I carry myself as a strong woman. Yes, I dress sexier, but people usually don’t mess with me or mistreat me because I appear to have a strength to me.”
Teresi used Paige Spiranac as an example of a “strong and confident” woman under the golf and social media spotlights.
“She doesn’t look like some dumb bimbo. When you look at her you can see strength and confidence. I wouldn’t mess with her, people wouldn’t mess with her. People have respect for her,” Teresi said about Spiranac. “You can still respect someone even though they’re sexy and she’s clearly a beautiful, sexy woman… There’s a huge difference when you carry yourself in a confident way.”
Teresi continues separate herself in the modeling world due to her golf edge. While she continues to work at improving her golf game, the model hopes to one day play with her current favorite pro, Dustin Johnson.
“I think he’s incredible,” Teresi told The Post, adding that it would “be really cool” to have his wife, model Paulina [Gretzky] on her “Tag Team” podcast.
“We have to find a way to make that happen,” she said.
Between podcasting, keeping up with her Guess gigs, and other modeling jobs, Teresi’s golf game has admittedly taken a back seat. Though, when her schedule slows down, she said she plans to get back on the green to reach her goal of shooting in the 80s. (She’s currently shooting in the 90s).
“The past few weeks have been so busy with modeling jobs and travel so I haven’t had too much time to practice. But on less busy weeks when I’m in Florida or playing in Dominican Republic with my team, I’d like to be playing and practicing two-to-three times a week ideally,” she said.
And Teresi is determined to do it all.
“Why can’t I, or other women be good at multiple things? We can do anything we want,” she said.
