HPU scores high in ADA All-Sports Trophy

Jul. 10—CLEVELAND, Ohio — High Point University’s strong performance across all sports during the 2020-21 year helped it place third in the Athletic Directors Association I-AAA All-Sports Trophy.

The award is based on the Learfield Directors Cup standings, in which the Panthers finished 77th overall.

It is the highest finish in both the Learfield Directors Cup standings and the ADA All-Sports Trophy standings. HPU improved over 100 spots from its previous highest finish, which was 179th in 2016-17.

“High Point University is experiencing a championship transformation and the No. 3 national finish in 2020-21 represents an example of our growth,” High Point University athletic director Dan Hauser said. “Our HPU student-athletes and coaches are focused on both NCAA regional and national prominence.

“We will celebrate this accomplishment and I am so proud to work with such a talented and dedicated team. We’re just getting started, and I know this recognition will fuel our passion to be the No. 1 D1-AAA university in the nation.”

HPU’s third-place finish in the ADA All-Sports Trophy and its 77th-place finish in the Learfield Cup are the highest in Big South Conference history.
