‘Indiana Jones 5’ Photos Reveal When The Harrison Ford Film Takes Place

Set photos from Indiana Jones 5 may have revealed the time period for the upcoming Harrison Ford film.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently in production, marking the long-awaited return of Harrison Ford as cinema’s most-iconic archaeologist in roughly 14 years since the much-maligned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hit theaters. While the film’s official plot remains under wraps, previous set photos have indicated WWII era flashback scenes given the presence of WWII vehicles as well as set photos indicating possible de-aging technology used on Harrison Ford.

While flashback sequences could be used for Indiana Jones 5, it appears that the film will be set in 1969. According to set photos courtesy of Glasgow Times, we see what appears to be New York City, and a “Welcome Home” poster for astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins is plastered on a shop window.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull took place in 1957, hinting that when we see Harrison Ford back in real-time, he would’ve aged at least a decade in his newest adventure. Based on all the set photos that hit the web, it appears that multiple eras Harrison Ford’s beloved character will be explored.

Directed by James Mangold, Indiana Jones 5 stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Toby Jones.

Here is the synopsis for the previous film in the franchise, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:

STEVEN SPIELBERG and GEORGE LUCAS bring you the greatest adventurer of all time in “a nonstop thrill ride” (Richard Corliss, TIME) that’s packed with “sensational, awe-inspiring spectacles” (Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES). Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finds Indy (Harrison Ford) trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent (Cate Blanchett) for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker (Shia LaBeouf) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen), Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies!

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned to Stock Market Pioneer for all the latest news on Lucasfilm’s upcoming projects, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
