Islanders' playoff run ends in Game 7 loss to Lightning

The Islanders’ season is over.

Yanni Gourde’s shorthanded goal in the second period was all the Lightning needed to beat the Islanders 1-0 in Game 7 of their Stanley Cup semifinal on Friday night at Amalie Arena.

It’s the second straight year Tampa Bay has denied the Islanders a spot in the final. The Lightning advance to face the Montreal Canadiens in hopes of winning at second straight Stanley Cup.

Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 18 shots he faced. Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves for the Islanders.
