Joe Biden And Jill Biden Pay Heartwarming Tribute To Their Dog Champ After He Dies At Age 13

The First Pet has sadly passed away and the POTUS and FLOTUS paid tribute to their beloved dog! Joe Biden and Jill Biden are mourning the passing of their oldest pup and they took to social media to remember and honor Champ after he died at the honorable age of 13.

In an official statement, the Bidens wrote that ‘Our hearts are very heavy today as we let you know our beloved German Shepherd, Champ has passed away peacefully at home. He was our constant, our cherished companion in the last 13 years and was adored by the entire family.’

The post goes on to also say that ‘Even as Champ’s strength waned in his last months, when we all came into a room, he’d immediately pull himself up, his tail wagging, to nuzzle us for an ear scratch or belly rub. Wherever we were, he also wanted to be, and everything was instantly better when he was there next to us. He loved nothing more than to curl up at our feet in front of the fire at the end of the day, or joining us as a comforting presence during meetings, or just sunning himself in the White House garden.’

As you may know, Champ came into their lives back in 2008, right after Biden was elected as Vice President.

Apparently, at the time, he promised Jill that he’d get a puppy for them if Barack Obama won the election.

Sure enough, that is exactly what took place and Joe Biden kept his promise, acquiring Champ when he was only 3 months old from a breeder in Pennsylvania.

The same promise was also made by Obama to his and Michelle’s daughters.

That is when the former POTUS got their first pet dog, Bo, who also sadly passed back in May of this year, at the age of 12.
