Karrueche Tran Wins A Daytime Emmy For Outstanding Performance By A Lead Actress In A Daytime Fiction Program

Congrats are in order to Karrueche Tran!! She won an Emmy at the 2021 Daytime Emmys for her role as Vivan Johnson Garret on the series “The Bay.” She has also become the first AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islanders) lead actress winner for either the Daytime Emmys or Primetime.

Kaurreche shared her excitement for her big win on social media and said, “I won a f*cking EMMY, you guys…I just…I can’t even think straight right now…omgggg.” She also reposted a video of her reaction to winning the award. Excited about the win, Karrueche thanked the academy as well as the other nominees that she was up against as she expressed her gratitude.

“The Bay” is a digital drama series that first aired on Blip.tv, but has since moved to Amazon Prime. Over the years fans have been able to watch Karrueche’s acting career blossom. She played the role of Vivan from 2014 to 2017. After that, she landed the role of Virginia Loc on the TNT hit scripted series “Claws.”

She further spoke about her big win and said, “Y’all…I…really don’t even know where to begin…lol when I got nominated I was soooo surprised and grateful but was like nah there’s no way I’m gonna actually win.. the nom was more than enough.. but God had a different plan for me…I’m still in shock!”

“I f*cking made Emmys history…that is HUGE and makes me extremely emotional,” she added. “To be a representation of a community that is so often overlooked and underappreciated brings me to tears…WOW! I am on such a high that I know will last for a long time…I think the biggest takeaway from this blessing is not allowing it to get to my head or too comfortable. This award motivates me to keep pushing myself beyond my limits.. to work even harder and become better than I was yesterday.”
