Observations from Jets training camp on Wednesday.
The offense had its best day of training camp. The first, second and third teams all had good moments. The first team offense dominated in a seven-on-seven red-zone period where Zach Wilson was on fire and the tight ends kept coming up with catches.
The secondary had a rough day. Wide receivers were running open and there was a holding penalty on one play. It felt like the defense fell behind the offense for the first time in camp.
Caught my eye
The Jets did not have pads on for Wednesday’s practice but that did not stop RB La’Mical Perine from plowing over safety Zane Lewis on a strong run up the middle. Perine is running hard in camp.
Zach Wilson’s day
Wilson completed 6 of 11 passes during the team periods. He threw a beautiful deep pass to Elijah Moore down the sideline and looked poised in a seven-on-seven period in the red zone.
LG Alijah Vera-Tucker has a right pectoral strain and is day-to-day. DE Jabari Zuniga has an ankle injury and is day-to-day. OT Chuma Edoga is dealing with a knee injury that could keep him out for about a week.
