‘Loki’ Director Kate Herron Reveals Easter Egg In Season Finale’s Ending

Loki season 1 director Kate Herron revealed an Easter Egg featured in the finale.

The first season of Marvel Studios’ newest original series Loki burst open the door to the exciting new future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with new concepts and possibilities. The introduction of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and in the season finale’s climactic launch of the MCU’s Multiverse bring in some exciting new narrative opportunities for the franchise to grow.

Along with new narrative pathways for the series, the show is also filled with many Easter Eggs that the most devoted Marvel Comics fans will get excited about. In particular, there is one in the season finale that many viewers won’t notice on first viewing. Director Kate Herron revealed that Casey, the TVA receptionist played by actor Eugene Cordero was one of the Hunters heading into the armory in the final scene, and is specifically credited as Hunter K-5E.

The season finale ended on an exciting cliffhanger for the God of Mischief, revealing that Loki finds himself in an alternate version of the TVA where Kang the Conqueror is ruler, while Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) don’t recognize him.

Kate Herron revealed that while working on the first season, she was initially unaware about the series continuing for another one, leading into the cliffhanger. She tells Variety:

“When I started, there wasn’t a discussion of Season 2, exactly. It was just that season of ‘Loki.’ As we got deeper into production, everyone was very happy, and obviously there’s so much to explore with Loki. It felt like we should continue the story. So I think the cliffhanger ending came in later in the process.”
