Nets holding training camp in San Diego

Brooklyn isn’t just opening its preseason out in Southern California. It is opening training camp there, too.

The Nets will hold training camp in San Diego, near the home of co-owners Joe and Clara Wu Tsai. The move was first reported by NetsDaily and confirmed by The Post.

It’s the second time since opening HSS Training Center that the Nets have not held training camp there. They held their 2017 training camp in Annapolis, Md.

Brooklyn will hold its annual media day on Sept. 27 and then open training camp the next day in San Diego, near the Tsai’s home in La Jolla, Calif. Brooklyn is scheduled to play the Lakers on Oct. 3 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It’s uncertain which facility the Nets will use. The Tsais donated a “major gift” to UC San Diego’s 21st Century China Center this year and used the UCSD Medical School to distribute a million pieces of PPE during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic last year.

Kevin Durant, Steve Nash and the Nets will be heading to San Diego before the season starts.

There is also San Diego State and Pachenga Arena. The latter is home of the San Diego Seals, a National Lacrosse League team owned by Tsai.
