Nets’ Kyrie Irving out for Game 7 with ankle injury

The Nets’ Kyrie Irving will remain out for Saturday’s semifinals Game 7 against the Bucks.

According to coach Steve Nash, the 29-year-old guard has “some miles to make up” in his recovery from an ankle injury. However, if Brooklyn clinches the series and advances to the Eastern Conference finals, Nash believes that Irving could be back on the court.

“It is not a season-threatening situation,” Nash said to reporters.

Irving sprained his ankle in the second quarter of Game 4 and did not play in the Nets’ Game 5 win or their Game 6 loss. Even with an improved performance by James Harden, the Nets’ offense still struggled.

Going into the final game in the Nets-Bucks series, Nash will most likely put in Bruce Brown or Jeff Green for Irving’s starting spot.
