Brand new set photos from the upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker starring John Cena reveal actor Freddie Stroma as Vigilante.
Production on Peacemaker has been underway since January. The upcoming series is a spin-off from the highly-anticipated new DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad, which is written and directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). The series is centered on John Cena’s titular character, a prominent villain that will be introduced in The Suicide Squad and will serve as a prequel series exploring his origins. Last month, it was announced that Freddie Stroma was cast in the role of Vigilante for the upcoming series, replacing previously-cast Chris Conrad.

Freddie Stroma’s Adrian Chase AKA Vigilante is a District Attorney and crimefighter with a brisk healing factor. In the comics, Adrian Chase was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez and was the second individual to use the Vigilante name. Freddie Stroma is recognized for his role as Cormac McLaggen in the final three Harry Potter films and as Prince Friedrich in Netflix’s Bridgerton.
Details about the plot of Peacemaker are being kept under lock and key. In addition to John Cena, Peacemaker also stars Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang and Christopher Heyerdahl. James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the series and is a bunch of them, including the pilot.
The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on a fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie, which features the big screen debut of Peacemaker.
