Red Sox vs. Blue Jays odds, line: Count on Toronto

The Toronto Blue Jays soon will be able to play their home games once again in Toronto, but for now they are in Buffalo and will look to make up ground in the American League East race on Monday against the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox will give Nick Pivetta the start, who has done his best work on the road this season with opponents hitting .176 off of him with three home runs allowed in 46 ²/₃ innings and getting 11 strikeouts per nine inning.

Blue Jays starter Ross Stripling will face him, who despite surrendering 1.9 home runs per nine innings this season, has given his team a chance to win with the Blue Jays going 5-4 in his past nine starts. Stripling has limited the damage from these home runs by allowing three or fewer runs in 10 of his past 13 starts.

The Blue Jays are 4-5 against the Red Sox this season, but have a +21 run differential with three of the Red Sox wins coming by one run. The Blue Jays have scored at least seven runs four times against the Red Sox, with Pivetta starting two of those games.

Despite not being in front of their normal home fans and bouncing between Dunedin, Fla., and Buffalo, the Blue Jays lead the league in runs per game at home with 5.8. With Pivetta having surrendered 10 runs and four home runs in 10 innings across two starts against the Blue Jays and having allowed at least three runs in four of his last six starts, the Blue Jays will take down the American League East-leading Red Sox on Monday.

The play: Blue Jays, -126.
