Sha’Carri Richardson not going to Olympics, left off relay team

It’s official: Sha’Carri Richardson will not be representing her country in the 2020 Olympics.

The 21-year-old was not selected to be a part of the 4×100 relay team, according to the roster released by USA Track and Field on Tuesday. The relay was the only race she was able to take part of, as her drug suspension is set to last through the individual events.

Richardson tested positive for THC, the chemical in marijuana, after winning the 100-meter dash at the Olympic trials. A banned substance by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, she accepted a one-month ban as a result of the positive test.

There was hope she would be able to participate in the relay, but after the Olympic team did not select her as part of the event, it appears she won’t be making the trip to Tokyo.
