Tourist randomly attacked with glass bottle aboard NYC subway

A 27-year-old female tourist was randomly attacked by a bottle-wielding suspect aboard a Manhattan subway train on Monday night, sources said.

The woman was alone on a northbound E train when without provocation a male suspect socked her in the face near the 5th Ave./53rd St. subway station at about 7 p.m., according to police sources.

The man then whacked the woman in the head with a glass bottle. He fled the train car and it was unclear if he escaped at the next station.

The victim, who is visiting from Colombia, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
