Visions’ Films Will Take Place Before & After Skywalker Saga

Some of the Star Wars: Visions creators revealed where their short films will fall in the timeline at a recent press conference event in Tokyo.

Lucasfilm unveiled the full scope of their ambitious anime anthology series set in the Star Wars universe earlier this month. Based on what’s been released, Visions is already shaping up to be unlike anything we’ve seen from the franchise before, with its place in canon up in the air and allowing more room for artistic expression.

IGN recently attended a Star Wars: Visions press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday, where intriguing new details were revealed. Studio Trigger’s Masahiko Otsuka said “The Elder” will give us a taste of an older time period akin to the Old Republic:

“For some viewers, this series might be their first Star Wars experience, so I wanted to make something that you can enjoy without any knowledge of the rest of the story. So our story is not directly connected to any of the characters from the films, but it explores the idea of the Jedi Knights and the master and padawan dynamic in an older setting.”

Hiroyuki Imaishi shared that the setting for “The Twins” will be after the events of The Rise of Skywalker:

“The Twins’ is set after Episode IX, after the Empire has been vanquished by the Resistance. The remnants of the Imperial Army have raised a pair of twins on the Dark Side of the Force, and the story goes from there.” Imaishi referenced the twins searching for “a new hope”, suggesting some thematic references to that other story about a couple of Force-sensitive twins.”

Director Kenji Kamiyama from Production I.G went on to reveal that “The Ninth Jedi” will also be set after the Skywalker Saga:

“I wondered, after Episode IX, has the galaxy settled into peace? We all love stories of the Jedi and lightsabers, but what became of the Jedi Knights after the movie series? My story is about that.”

The most recent animated Star Wars series making the rounds is The Bad Batch. Here is the synopsis:

The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch — a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army — each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.

The Bad Batch is executive produced by Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jennifer Corbett with Carrie Beck as co-executive producer and Josh Rimes as producer. Rau is also serving as supervising director, with Corbett as head writer. Dee Bradley Baker is behind the voices of Clone Force 99.

The Bad Batch hits Disney Plus every Friday, while all nine episodes of Star Wars: Visions will premiere on September 22. Stay tuned to Stock Market Pioneer for all the latest news surrounding Star Wars and subscribe to our YouTube channel for exclusive video content!
