We’re not talking about Aaron Rodgers

No one can stop talking about the Aaron Rodgers drama.

Well, no one except the players in the Green Bay Packers locker room. They have decided to keep mum on the ongoing rumors.

“Honestly, it’s not even something that we truly talk about like that,” Packers wide receiver Davante Adams told Fox News. “It’s just, everybody’s been dialed into what they got to do. There’s enough to worry about with themselves than to be going and worrying about what other guys are doing and what their situation is like, especially when we can’t control any of that.”

The three-time MVP is in the midst of a rift with the Packers front office and held out from mandatory minicamp earlier this month after missing voluntary OTAs to vacation in Hawaii with fiancée Shailene Woodley.

Rodgers is now focusing on his golf swing for “The Match,” where he’ll team up with Bryson DeChambeau to face Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson.

If Rodgers remains out of the picture, the Packers will lean on second-year quarterback Jordan Love to take the reins. Love was drafted with the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and is set to be the heir to Rodgers’ throne. The 22-year-old quarterback out of Utah State has received first-team reps in minicamp with Rodgers absent.

“Well, it’s really, really early. We’ve seen some progress, but obviously, when you get into live action and do a little more training camp stuff, you’ll be able to further evaluate that, but I like what I see from him so far,” Adams said of Love. “He’s shown that he’s locked in and ready to assume whatever role that he has to and go out there and play, so I’m looking forward to seeing him.”

Rodgers has been heavily linked with the Denver Broncos since the trade rumors started. The 49ers also made some calls about Rodgers before selecting Trey Lance in this year’s draft. If Rodgers does return to Green Bay, where he has spent his whole 16-year career, his teammates will welcome him back with open arms.

“I think everybody’s mindset, everybody is going to love Aaron the same way when he returns, and obviously it’s been a little bit of a confusing situation but there hasn’t been any negative talk or anything like that. Everybody’s behind him,” Adams said.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Adams is in the final year of his four-year, $58 million contract. Whether the four-time Pro Bowler remains with the Packers could depend on Rodgers’ status.

“That’ll play into it, but there’s been talks, just really just talks, but we haven’t really done anything or talked about anything that’s worth mentioning,” Adams said. “It’s kind of just been the beginning stage of talking, and we’ll figure out what happens. Hopefully, something gets figured out, but I’m just there to play ball either way. That stuff will take care of itself eventually.”
