What Aaron Rodgers said about return to Packers during ‘The Match’

What Aaron Rodgers said about return to Packers during ‘The Match’

It was inevitably going to happen… and did.

On Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers teamed up with Bryson DeChambeau and beat Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in another installment of “The Match” from The Reserve Golf Course at Moonlight Basin in Montana.

During the event, golfers are routinely interviewed, and naturally, Rodgers and his ongoing saga with the Green Bay Packers was brought up. Consider the word “ongoing” as your answer.

When asked where he’ll be when the Packers open their 2021 season against the New Orleans Saints, Rodgers did not provide much of any answer.

“Yeah, I don’t know,” Rodgers said. “We’ll see.”

Then when pushed about the date of the game, Sept. 12, Rodgers’ answer was more of the same sidestepping.

“What’s that one?” Rodgers said.

The reigning MVP winner skipped out on the Packers’ offseason workouts and mandatory minicamp this spring amid the ongoing feud.

In recent weeks the team hasn’t spoken much on the situation either, which is probably their best bet after fumbling through a few comments earlier this offseason. Those included Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy saying Rodgers “divided the fan base” in Green Bay and general manager Ted Thompson calling the QB a “complicated fella.”

Most recently just a day prior to the golf outing, the NFL’s transactions list revealed on Monday that no players in the league had opted out of playing in 2021. There was a small belief that Rodgers might do so considering the circumstances, but he did not and will more than likely be playing… somewhere.
