When will Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder fight? Bout could be postponed after COVID-19 breakout in Fury camp

When will Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder fight? Bout could be postponed after COVID-19 breakout in Fury camp

Fury vs. Wilder 3 could be knocked out before it even hits the ring.

As is always the case with most major boxing fights, there will always be some hurdles to jump. Case in point: the heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, which could be postponed after a COVID-19 breakout in Fury’s camp, ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reports.

The fight, originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on July 24, would most likely be pushed back to September, Coppinger reports.

The fight between Fury and Wilder was made after governing bodies ruled that Fury must face Wilder before moving onto the long-awaited potential unification bout between Fury and fellow Englishman Anthony Joshua.

Wilder, who lost his WBC heavyweight title to Fury in 2020, is currently strapless and searching for his first win over Fury after fighting to a draw in 2018 and eating a TKO loss in 2020.

The fight being pushed back potentially to September could have serious ramifications on the rest of the heavyweight division, including Fury’s — or Wilder’s — potential showdown with Joshua.

Top Rank’s Bob Arum said that no step-aside money would be paid to Wilder, instead opting to have a trilogy fight between his fighter and Wilder in July. Arum says he was eyeing a late 2021 date for a heavyweight unification fight between Fury and Joshua.

Now, it looks like that schedule is all thrown off … again.
