The U.S. men’s basketball team’s road to the Tokyo Olympics has been filled with speed bumps.
Team USA lost its first two exhibition games against Nigeria and Australia before getting a much-needed win against Argentina. Then Team USA lost Bradley Beal (health and safety protocols) and Kevin Love (injury recovery) and had to cancel its rematch with Australia because of COVID-19 concerns.
This year’s squad is running out of time to develop chemistry with its Olympic opener only a week away. Team USA recently added Keldon Johnson and JaVale McGee as replacements, and Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton won’t be joining the rest of the group until after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
