Amanda Kloots lost her husband Nick Cordero following complications with the coronavirus infection.
One year after the untimely passing, on July 5, 2021, the widow took to Instagram to share a montage of her time with Cordero.
The video celebrated the happiest moments she shared with the Broadway star.
The seven-minute-long video came with a lengthy caption, where Kloots let her fans in on how she was doing and how difficult the last year had been.
Kloots claimed although her late husband was missed, thought about, and talked about every day, his memories still hurt even after a year of him becoming her angel in heaven.
Reminiscing the ‘Nick Era’
She added that the way he left this world was unthinkable and that losing him was her biggest fear. She recalled often telling him, “Don’t you dare go anywhere. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do.”
Kloots also thanked Cordero for being her guardian angel and her DJ in heaven. She believed that he was with her still.
Although Kloots and Cordero were together for a relatively short span of time, she admitted that those few years were filled with love, laughter, adventure, dreams, change, and growth.
Before closing her captions with the lyrics to the song ‘A Few Stars Apart,’ Kloots dubbed her time with her late husband as the “Nick Era” and promised that she would carry those memories with her forever.
Saying Farewell
Kloots announced the death of her husband via an Instagram post on July 5, 2020. He breathed his last at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
In the post, she noted that the Tony Award nominee was surrounded in love by his family singing and praying as he left for the other side.
After trying her best to express her experience of the ordeal, she thanked Dr. David Ng, who did his best to save Cordero’s life.
She then thanked everyone for the incredible support that she received in such a difficult time, especially for lifting her spirits at 3 PM every day with Cordero’s song, ‘Live Your Life.’
Kloots also told her fans that she and the family sang the song one last time to Cordero and said goodbye with a smile.
He Spent Weeks in a Medically-Induced Coma
The official announcement did not come with a cause of death. Still, it is to be noted that he had been admitted into the medical facility for three months after he had contracted COVID-19.
He was brought into the emergency room on March 30, 2020, and was put into a medically induced coma two days later.
He spent weeks in a medically induced coma. During that time, his right leg also had to be amputated after he developed clots while he was on a ventilator and an ECMO machine to help oxygenate his blood.
At the time, Kloots revealed to Today that the ECMO machine was employed to save his life. The machine undoubtedly saved his life but at the expense of a few blood-related issues.
Cordero lived by his wife and their now-2-year-old son Elvis Eduardo Cordero. The couple welcomed their son in 2019, two years after their wedding.
