‘Black Adam’ Producer On Seeing Dwayne Johnson Finally In Costume

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia reflected on seeing Dwayne Johnson finally suit up as the antihero for the first time.

Dwayne Johnson was attached to the role of Black Adam since 2014 when previously, he was set to appear as the primary antagonist in Shazam!. However, it was eventually decided that both Shazam and Black Adam would have their origin stories told in their own individual films rather than together at once. Zachary Levi would go on to play the superhero alter-ego of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) in the acclaimed 2019 film while Dwayne Johnson was preparing for the Black Adam role in a film of his own.

Principal Photography on Black Adam recently wrapped, and it sure looks like Dwayne Johnson got to his peak physical appearance to bring the character to life. While no official suit reveal has been made yet, producer Hiram Garcia shared his reaction to seeing him suit up for the first time. The producer revealed as such during the premiere for Jungle Cruise:

“There’s moments, you know my friend, as a filmmaker where you’re like, ‘I’ll never forget that.’ When he walked out in that costume, it was… Oh, 100%. This was a baby, one of our special babies. Not only was I there, but I was also making sure I was gonna capture that moment on camera to make sure that we never forget that. You’re gonna be blown away when you see it. He’s a walking superhero. He’s been preparing for this role for I feel like over ten years, so to see it come to life in front of you. It was magical, man.”

Concept art of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam is currently the only way in which fans can see the megastar’s likeness as the iconic DC Comics character. Besides that, we’ve only seen him give small teases of himself suited up on social media through silhouettes and other glimpses.
