Cheap shot ‘wasn’t meant’ for Chris Paul

Will Chris Paul accept Patrick Beverley’s apology?

Before the Suns sent the Clippers home in a 130-103 Game 6 victory Wednesday night, Beverley was ejected for an aggressive shove to Paul’s lower back that sent him crashing to the floor.

While Beverley was likely unfazed by the internet trolling that followed the shove, he sent a public apology to Paul on Wednesday.

“@CP3 emotions got the best of me last night gang. My bad wasn’t meant for you,” the Clippers guard tweeted the day after Paul and the Suns ended his season. “Congrats on making it to the Finals. Best of Luck.”

So, who was the shove really meant for?

Beverley lost his cool with under six minutes left in the Clippers’ Game 6 loss.

He took out his emotions on Paul after the 11-time All-Star sunk a deep three to put the Suns up by 26 points and punch a ticket to the NBA Finals. Paul had a spectacular night, recording 41 points on 16-for-24 shooting, including 31 in the second half alone.

Beverley finished his season with 11 points and three assists in Game 6 of the conference finals series.
