Major League Baseball seems to have struck out with its freshly unveiled 2021 All-Star Game jerseys.
On Thursday, MLB revealed its uniforms for the 2021 MLB All-Star Game, which is set to be played at Coors Field in Denver on July 13. The uniforms deviate from the age-old tradition of players sporting their team’s jersey during the game.
Instead, the National League will don white jerseys while the American League will sport blue ones. Both jerseys feature a vertical abbreviation for each player’s represented team on the left side, with the specific team’s logo intersecting the abbreviation.
The new look as not been well received:
Players will be allowed to wear their typical individual team jerseys during the Home Run Derby.
The jersey fiasco isn’t even the first divisive All-Star Game decision — commissioner Rob Manfred moved the game out of Atlanta after changes to Georgia’s voting laws, stirring up plenty of controversy along the way.
Manfred may not have time to address the uniform debacle — he’s been plenty busy over the past few days answering for MLB’s crackdown on pitchers using foreign substances prompting unintended theatrics.
