'Loki' Post-Credits Scene Was Framed To Reference 'The Avengers'

Loki director Kate Herron confirmed that the fourth episode’s post-credits scene was framed to reference a pivotal scene in The Avengers.

Spoilers ahead for Loki.

The fourth episode of Loki was stuffed with easter eggs, references, plot twists, and revelations that still have most of us in a daze. One of the most tightly-packed episodes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s sure to go down as one of the greatest the franchise has to offer. While there were dozens of obvious, in-your-face easter eggs and callbacks, director Kate Herron has pointed out a visual reference that went over most of our’s heads – not because we couldn’t get it, but because we were so caught up in the moment.

In the episode’s post-credits scene, audiences are introduced to four new variants: Classic Loki, Boastful Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki (not an official name!) after Tom Hiddleston’s variant wakes on the ground after being pruned. The way the scene is framed is mimicking the iconic scene in The Avengers when Loki is caught by the team as Hawkeye points an arrow at his face. Director Kate Herron took to Twitter to point out the similar framing between the scenes, as well as revealing that the score for the post-credits scene takes a cue from The Avengers.
