Marvel President Kevin Feige Says Phase 4 Is About ‘New Beginnings’

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige says the general theme that Phase 4 will be exploring is “new add beginnings”.

It’s hard to believe it but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already made its way into Phase 4. What began as the little-superhero-movie-that-could in 2008 with Iron Man became an overnight success, launching an entirely new franchise with over 20 films released in a decade. Now, the MCU has begun to dabble in original shows, with shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, which kicked off Phase 4 of the franchise. The much-delayed Black Widow also hit cinemas this weekend, which means Phase 4’s first cinematic entry is finally in the wild. Now that audiences are familiar with Phase 4’s early offerings, Marvel Studios President discussed the main theme that defines the fourth Phase of the franchise.

In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes to tease Phase four of the MCU, Kevin Feige discussed the franchise’s upcoming slate for the next two years, which contains a whopping 9 films, and half a dozen television series. The Marvel architect also hesitated to discuss the general theme that Phase 4 revolves around but ultimately described it as exploring “new beginnings”.

“You know the definition of phases often evolve with the phases and often I leave up to writers and journalists to decide, that’s for the film historians to tell us what the phases were about. Truthfully Phase Four was always about continuing in new ways and new beginnings, even with films that seemingly are concluding storylines there are new beginnings within them and that was what was most exciting to us about the opportunity to make shows for Disney+, about all of us at Marvel Studios choosing to continue past Endgame and past Far From Home and leaving the Infinity Saga behind to a new beginning.”

“That I think is what people will be looking at Phase Four, I hope, as having accomplished. But we’re in the middle of it now so it remains to be seen, we don’t take our foot off the gas, we don’t take anything for granted, and we all work extremely hard to deliver.”
