Mets Make Statement in Bronx feat. Justin Walters

The Mets took two of three from the Yankees in Subway Series.
Corey Sipkin

The Mets are the kings of New York baseball…for now. They are trending upward after winning two out of three in The Bronx over the weekend in part one of the Subway Series. They hold a 3 1/2 game lead in the NL East. There was lots of excitement in the air in a packed Yankee Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

To talk about that and the Mets’ upcoming homestand before the All-Star break, we bring you a new episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Nelson Figueroa and me, featuring a chat with PIX 11 sports reporter Justin Walters.

Amazin’ But True Podcast with Jake & Figgie:

  • SUBWAY SERIES WIN: Good series for the Mets. Bats came alive and had some clutch hits. Should Corey Oswalt get more starts? Should the Mets go out and get another starting pitcher? What is this team missing? Brandon Nimmo’s return was essential for this lineup and getting runs home.
  • COMING UP: Big seven-game homestand to close out the first half of the season. Mets need to go into the All-Star break with a bang.

Justin Walters Interview:
PIX 11 sports reporter

  • SUBWAY SERIES: Momentum was in Mets’ direction over the weekend. Very surprising Taijuan Walker and Edwin Diaz didn’t make All-Star Game.
  • YANKEES FANS: Should the Yankees be concerned about the direction they are going right now?

Nelson Figueroa Spanish Academy: Figgie teaches me how to say “Subway Series,” “all-star” and “restricted diet” in Spanish.
