Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez hits first pro home run

The Yankees are a complete mess in The Bronx, decimated by another COVID outbreak and continued poor play.

But there was at least some good news in Tampa, as top prospect Jasson Dominguez blasted his first professional home run for Low-A Tampa against Lakeland on Friday night.

The switch-hitting 18-year-old has had multi-hit games in three of his four outings with Tampa.

Signed out of the Dominican Republic for $5.1 million in 2019, Dominguez projects as a center fielder. His first pro season was canceled due to COVID.

On Sunday, Dominguez appeared in the All-Star Futures Game in Colorado and said his goal was to get to the majors in “three or four years.”

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Dominguez was recently promoted from the rookie-level Yankees in the Florida Complex League to Tampa.
