A city councilman in Fort Valley, Ga. has been charged with assault and making terroristic threats, after allegedly threatening to shoot a woman and calling her the N-word, according to reports.
“In the heat of the moment sometimes people don’t know how to deescalate anger, we’ve seen it all over the country, everywhere,” Mayor Barbara Williams said, according to WGXA.
According to a July 2 police incident report, the councilman, Jimmy Barnes, allegedly threatened to shoot a woman, calling her the N-word multiple times, at a highway convenience store.
He was arrested July 12 and released July 15 on a $50,000 bond, with an ankle monitor, WGXA said.
