The man was in critical condition after he was taken to OU Medical Center, the station reported.

The man had two knives and threatened a clerk before he was shot, News 9 reported. It wasn’t clear if the would-be robber was looking for money or something else but whatever it was he was denied, the station said.

“He became extremely agitated and started breaking the display cases,” Lt. Isaac Goodman told Fox 25. “He was out of control to the point where the store clerk and store owner who was in there felt threatened and had to protect themselves.”

The names of those involved weren’t released. Police are reportedly reviewing surveillance video of the clash.

The shooting follows a May incident where a man was shot and killed by a security guard at another dispensary in the city. Jobe Bicksler was shot after he was kicked out of Stability Cannabis Shop, then returned and pulled out a knife, The Associated Press reported.
